PDF Ligero started from an everyday need: getting the text out of a PDF without uploading the document to a service you do not know.

What it is

It is a PDF viewer with search and a Markdown converter that run entirely in your browser. It is meant for anyone who needs to reuse the content of a document: notes, manuals, articles, contracts or reports.

Principles

  • Privacy by design. Your files are not uploaded, there are no accounts and we do not use analytics.
  • Lightweight. No external fonts or heavy libraries: the PDF engine only loads when you open a file.
  • Honest. We explain the limits of the conversion instead of promising perfect results.

How it is funded

The site is free. We do not sell information about you, because we do not collect it.

Credits

PDF reading uses PDF.js, a Mozilla project distributed under the Apache 2.0 license. The rest of the code is our own and does not depend on external libraries.
